My Custom Map

Today I am writing about the amazing Minecraft custom map I am making. In my new map a player has to find their way through a cobblestone maze and climb a broken stone staircase to find the treasure at the top. The point of the map is to break the curse of the Golden Sword and Diamond Stuff. After the player climbs the stairs he goes through a shallow mine. At the end of the mine, the player finds a golden apple, then he goes to a sunken boat and finds a ladder to a tunnel that leads through a maze. After getting out of the maze, the players goes to a mine in an abandoned town, where he goes through another maze with traps. The player finishes the task, digs some clay, goes into a cave and jumps across lava. Then he goes through a dungeon and finally goes to a pyramid. That is all I have made so far. I am still making it longer and harder to play.

                                                        

Lunken trail

Yesterday I took a long run with Andrew at Lunken Airport bike trail.  My mom and dad rode their bikes while we ran. The Lunken trail is a five-mile trail that goes all the way around the airport. I ran really fast at first, but after a while I ran out of energy.  Andrew was whining about bug bites. I did not any get bug bites. I was really tired by the middle of the run, but Andrew was not tired at all.  It was a good run because I was with my family. I ran one lap in the time took Mom and Dad to ride two laps, plus half of a third lap.

Naked Sun

I just finished a book called Naked Sun by Isaac Asimov.  It is the second in a series of books. I think it is the best so far of the series. In the book, a spacer is murdered on Saria, a planet. The head of security at the planet sends for Elijah Baley to come and investigate the case. Baley is again accompanied by his robot friend, Daneel. Together they figure out that the murderer was not the wife of the victim (every one thought she killed her husband) but the best robotist of all the colonized planets who killed the spacer. It was a shocking end of the book.  I thought it was a robot who did it. I liked this book because it is set in a future that is filled with robots who do some of the jobs that people don’t want to do.   

                                                                                         

Caves of Steel

I just finished reading a science fiction crime novel called The Caves of Steel, written by Isaac Asimov. It is a good book about how a murder in the future affects the future of the Earth. The book is told from the viewpoint of a policeman by the name of Elijah Baley. The murder victim was from another planet. Elijah is paired up for the case with a robot named R. Daneel Olivaw (the “R” stands for robot). Daneel looks so much like a human, that no one recognizes him as a robot. Other robots on Earth look like machines. Elijah and Daneel have to work together, but Elijah does not like robots because he thinks humans should do their own work (on Spacer worlds robots do all the work). In the end, the murderer turned out to be Elijah’s boss (which is what I figured out by the middle of the book). The Commissioner killed the Spacer because he was a “medievalist”, which means he did not want Earth people to colonize other worlds. The victim was trying to get Earth people to colonize other worlds so that the Earth’s population would be reduced and people would live longer like the Spacers (300 years). In the book, Earth is very crowded with eight billion people living in huge cities covered by steel roofs. People have to share bathrooms and kitchens. They live close to each other for efficiency. I really liked this book because it showed how the Earth could be in the future, and the plot had many twists and turns.

Minecraft Mods

Minecraft is a software game that can be changed with mods. Mods are modifications to the Minecraft “.jar” file. Mods can improve the game by adding stuff like guns, vehicles, planes and ores and mining tools (using the “More Ores” mod). The first mod I figured out how to use is called “Millénaire”. This mod adds N.P.C. (non-playable characters) and villages that you can upgrade to better, bigger towns. To upgrade a village, you need to trade the needed resources to the town hall so the people of the town will build new buildings or upgrade old buildings. For instance, I made the N.P.C.’s (villagers who are computer-generated people, not avatars of other players) make me a stone mansion on one of my worlds. I also used the mod called “Mo’ Creatures” to add creatures like Pegasuses and regular horses, werewolves and regular wolves, giants, orcs, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, sharks, dolphins, piranhas and regular fish. To use mods, you have to first use “Mod Loader”, and some mods need “Turbo Thingey” and “Audio Mod Loader”. It took a while for me to figure out how to use mods because they are hard to install.
